Smoke, Mirrors and Connecting the Dots

James Howard Kunstler is one of my favorite authors and also one of my favorite blog sites.  I would highly recommend that you look over his blog and specifically read his yearly predictions and compare them to reality.  His books are worth the time as well.

His recent post Things to come” is filled with his typical doom and gloom predilections, which unfortunately usually come to fruition.  He opens with “As our politics creep deeper into a legalistic wilderness hunting for phantoms of Russian collusion, nobody pays attention to the most dangerous force in American life: the unraveling financialization of the economy.

Financialization is what happens when the people-in-charge “create” colossal sums of “money” out of nothing…”

He, of course, is referring to the next financial bubble that will burst.  If people truly believe that policies enacted after the last bubble will protect them, they are wrong.  These ‘bubbles” are created and highly desirable because they allow massive transfers of wealth from what remains of the middle class to the elite 1%.  Those with a simple outlook on the way things work and who remain informed from the mainstream media, the internet and Facebook will fret over the hit that their 401K takes, but be relieved when some government program appears to bail them out.  It will never occur to them that they were just robbed blind.  They were screwed and not even kissed.

As the Summer Riot season approaches, I am more concerned this year than most.  Patrick Buchanan’s article Are We Nearing Civil War? discusses the efforts of the Democrats and far lefts efforts to undermine the Trump administration.  I have never been a fan of President Trump, I would have been much happier if Rand Paul was elected.  At least it wasn’t Hillary, and Trump is our president.  We are all in the same boat now and I really would prefer that it continues to float. I certainly would like to see him succeed in draining the swamp and to Make America Great Again.  It is pretty apparent however that the establishment isn’t planning to go away without a fight.  The minute you switch on your TV you realize that there is a full blown frontal attack targeting the presidency and they are doing their best to destroy the Real Donald Trump.  At what cost?

Civil unrest, civil war (or revolutionary war depending on your perspective), war with the Koreans, the Russians, maybe the Balkan peninsula, no matter.  At some point people will rally behind the flag, Nationalism will unite the divided, young men and women will die, and those ultra-rich, ultra-elite people without a country, those globalist will get richer.   By-the-way, another great book yo read is The Creature from Jekyll Island: A Second Look at the Federal Reserve by G. Edward Griffin.  You will become a little angry, and you will realize that all of this is planned and orchestrated.  It has been happening for years, hundreds of years in fact.  It became codified by the United States with the creation of the Federal Reserve in 1913.

This summer is different though.  There are numerous “anti-Trump” groups and organizations.  Groups like Antifa, which stands for “anti-fascist action,”, a network of loosely affiliated far-left anarchist and communist groups that orchestrate violence are becoming larger, more organized, and better funded.  They are advocating violence.  There a thousands of local and state militias forming, organizing and training.  The vast majority of these groups have stated missions to defend and to protect the Constitution.  The problem will become apparent when a group such as Antifa who advocates violence comes in contact to groups that aren’t going to back down.  This may be a different type of bubble, but I assure you that the fallout will be epic and that someone will make a lot of money when the powder keg goes off.

The Increasingly Hysterical And Irrational Response To Orlando, Manchester, London, Paris, San Bernardino, Etc.

Tallen-Fox-Hebdoe-Linkedin

(Bill Tallen, Executive Vice President Tactical Operations at Distributed Security, Inc. offers a response to recent terror and workplace violence tragedies.)

James Alan Fox at USA Today gave us on Tuesday (June 6, 2017) an opinion piece that is spiteful, petty, misleading, and politicized – just what we’d expect from a professor at Northeastern University in these debased times. See his column at https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2017/06/06/imagine-if-london-terrorists-had-guns-james-alan-fox-column/102558812/

He asks rhetorically what would have happened, “if the London terrorists had guns and [the] Orlando shooter had only knives?” The line is catchy but the logic is tortuous. He wants us to believe that the Orlando workplace killing would not have happened if the disgruntled worker had shown up only with knives – despite the long deadly rampage of the London terrorists with their knives – as though stricter gun control might have prevented the man from using a handgun (although there are conservatively speaking, over 120 million of these already in private hands in the US). And he clearly admires the UK’s draconian gun control regime, which ensured that none of the terrorists’ victims had a chance to defend themselves against murderous fanatics with knives. Even to defend themselves with a knife, which will see you off to prison in the UK.

Private Defense Network communications

QUICK STEPS TO YOUR AMATEUR RADIO (HAM) LICENSE.
The ham radio license seems one of the bigger preparedness mysteries. Communications will be very important in any event, whether a local event, a regional event (usually weather), or an all out, nationwide event. The previous requirement of knowing Morse Code was enough to scare many away. Fortunately things have changed for the better, at least for Private Defense Network (PDN) purposes.

An amateur radio license is really a license to experiment. This does not concern us, initially. Many of you will get hooked and go on to experiment, and we encourage that. There is much to know about ham radio and best learned on the job.

This article is designed to get you on the air in a week or less, with a radio, for around $100. Usually less.

The “Resistance”

We keep hearing [I’m part of] “The Resistance” spewing out of various public figures. These spews should be addressed.

Terms Used in Unconventional Warfare (UW)

[Current] Joint doctrine defines UW as activities conducted to enable a resistance movement or insurgency to coerce, disrupt, or overthrow a government or occupying power by operating through or with an underground, auxiliary, and guerrilla (sic) force in a denied area. (JP 3-05)

More recently, published Public Law defines UW as “activities conducted to enable a resistance movement or insurgency to coerce, disrupt, or overthrow a government or occupying power by operating through or with an underground, auxiliary, or guerrilla (sic) force in a denied area.” [Public Law 114-92 Sec. 1097, S.1356 — 114th Congress (2015-2016), National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2016]

The Amazing Arrogance of the Paris Climate Agreement

It was December 12, 2015, when headlines in the world’s leading newspapers, in implausibly bold type, celebrated the “historic” agreement in Paris between all nations of the world to curb carbon emissions and thereby stop climate change: or so they said, as if elites get to say what is and is not historic.

The spin, like the agreement itself, was crammed down our throats.

Trump lawyers ask Supreme Court to reject 2nd Amendment claim by men who lost gun rights over nonviolent crimes

Trump administration lawyers are in an awkward spot of defending guns laws and opposing the 2nd Amendment…But the Justice Department under Trump has embraced the same position in this case that was adopted under President Obama: to defend strict enforcement of a long-standing federal law that bars convicted criminals from ever owning a gun, even when their crimes did not involve violence.

California Democrat Pushes To Ensure Teachers Can’t Shoot Back

So sad to see those people stuck in the dark ages of reality, the future is distributed and if your security plan can’t keep up with distributed threats, you are in for a rude awakening that will cost lives.

Democrat Assemblyman Kevin McCarty (D-Sacramento) is pushing a bill to guarantee teachers will be unarmed and unable to shoot back should an attack occur — though there have been zero incidents or accidents with armed teachers in California. McCarty’s bill, AB 424, repeals school administrators’ authority to grant permission for teachers with concealed carry permits to carry firearms on campus for defense of themselves and their students.

Liberals Declare Self-Defense Shooting Unconstitutional

You can’t make this stuff up.

Huffington Post writer Justin Curmi wrote in his article titled “A Revision on the Bill of Rights, Part III” that victims who use a handgun to kill an attacker are depriving that suspect of his constitutional rights, namely the right to a fair trial.

– The main problem with the notion of self-defense is it imposes on justice, for everyone has the right for a fair trial. Therefore, using a firearm to defend oneself is not legal because if the attacker is killed, he or she is devoid of his or her rights…

U.S. Army Buries XM25 Program – The Firearm BlogThe Firearm Blog

So after almost 20-years of development and millions upon millions of dollars, the system finally dies.

In the latest twist of events to do with the 25mm XM25 “Punisher”, it appears the program is coming to a grinding halt after Military.com recently reported that the U.S. Army has completely canceled the program with Orbital ATK after almost two decades of development work. On top of numerous bureaucratic delays and issues that we’ve covered in an earlier post, the program was suffering from the delay of H&K’s delivery of 20 XM25s to ATK, of which the company sued H&K earlier for over 27 million dollars. Because H&K didn’t or couldn’t deliver the product to ATK, the U.S. Government canceled the procurement program completely about a month ago, with the news just surfacing now. Negotiations ensued between the government and ATK but these apparently could not yield an acceptable replacement in time or to satisfy operational requirements.

Details On The USSOCOM Sponsored KeyMod vs M-LOK Test Conducted at NSWC-Crane

During this week’s NDIA Armaments Conference, Caleb McGee from Naval Surface Warfare Center – Crane conducted a briefing which detailed the test protocols used to evaluate the KeyMod and M-LOK weapon accessory attachment systems on behalf of the United States Special Operations Command. We recently published a FOIA released summary of that test which indicates that SOCOM selected M-LOK for use on the Suppressed Upper Reciever Group and Advanced Sniper Rifle programs. This briefing explains why they made that decision.

Springfield Armory and Rock River Arms Sell Out Illinois FFLs

As part of doing his best to eliminate as many opponents as possible, he struck a deal with the Illinois Firearms Manufacturers Association (IFMA). In a recent article, author John Boch wrote that Jay Keller, IFMA’s lobbyist, traded that group’s opposition to the bill in exchange for a carve-out, removing Prairie State firearms manufacturers from the licensing requirements. To be clear, that means Illinois manufacturers who are members of IFMA, get a pass from everything. Guess who are the two major IFMA funding sources: Springfield Armory and Rock River Arms. The two 500-pound gorillas in Illinois’ gun manufacturing sector.

Trump’s Tax Plan Is Brilliant Politics and Even Better Economics

Donald Trump’s tax plan seems to mark a new chapter in his presidency, from floundering around with strange and sometimes scary policies (bombings, border closings, saber rattling) to focusing on what actually matters and what can actually make the difference for the American people and the American economy.

Under Trump’s plan, taxes on corporate profits go from 35% to 15%. They should be zero (like the Bahamas), but this is a good start. Taxes on capital gains go from 23.8% to 20%. Again, it should be zero (as with New Zealand), but it is a start. Rates for all individuals are lowered to three: 10%, 25%, and 35%. The standard deduction for individuals is doubled (politically brilliant). The estate state and the alternative minimum tax is gone. Popular deductions for charitable giving and mortgage interest are preserved. The hare-brained idea of a “border adjustment tax” is toast.

11 Facts That Prove The 2017 US Economy Is In Far Worse Shape Than It Was In 2016 | Zero Hedge

There is much debate about where the U.S. economy is ultimately heading, but what everybody should be able to agree on is that economic conditions are significantly worse this year than they were last year.  It is being projected that U.S. economic growth for the first quarter will be close to zero, thousands of retail stores are closing, factory output is falling, and restaurants and automakers have both fallen on very hard times.  As economic activity has slowed down, commercial and consumer bankruptcies are both rising at rates that we have not seen since the last financial crisis.  Everywhere you look there are echoes of 2008, and yet most people still seem to be in denial about what is happening.

Does National Defense Require the State?

Gordon Tullock used to taunt anarchists by asserting that if the USA abolished its government, people would not have to worry about the Russians taking over the country because “the Mexicans would get here first.”

This little story actually incorporates a common objection to anarchy—namely, the idea that because, if a country abolished its government, other countries would not necessarily follow suit, the governments of those other countries would be free to, and would, simply take over the country that, lacking a government, also lacked an effective means of defending itself against takeover by a foreign power.

This thinking presumes at least two critical ideas: first, that defense of a population requires a government that rules that population; and, second, that if a government has the power to take over another country, it will do so.
