Unable to defend the citizens of Chicago, Police superintendent Gerry McCarthy wants to take away the only means for Chicago citizens to defend themselves…

Police superintendent Garry McCarthy acknowledged that his department’s decision to increase the police presence in the city by 30% in anticipation of holiday violence had not prevented the killings – and called for more restrictive gun laws. Last year 14 people were killed in Chicago over the Fourth of July weekend.

Wild Seadogs of the Øresund

What a heartwarming heap of total bollocks from The Independent’s sob-sister Richard Orange. For a start, unlike the bad old days of Nazi-occupied Denmark and neutral Sweden that “some” are comparing it to, there are no border controls whatsoever between Copenhagen and Malmö. You just hop on a train at the aforementioned Central Station in Copenhagen and hop off a half-hour or so later on the other end of the impressive Øresund Bridge at the Central Station in Malmö. I did it myself the other day, and was looking forward to sitting back and enjoying the peace and quiet of Scandinavian First Class. But, just as I took my seat and settled in, a gaggle of Abdul’s fellow “refugees” swarmed in, young bearded men and a smaller number of covered women, the lads shooing away those first-class ticket-holders not as nimble in securing their seats as I. The conductor gave a shrug, the great universal shorthand for there’s-nothing-I-can-do.

The New Generation of Young Mafia Members Terrorizing Naples

In the past, you had to be of a minimum age to rise through the ranks and you needed the courage to carry out ‘o piezzo—murder. Once you had worked your way up, the Camorra would find you a job for life and offer their loyalty in return. Back then, the Mafia had employees, while today those working for the Camorra feel more like freelancers. As the recruitment process gets quicker, gangs and clans become increasingly fragmented and end up fighting over every single street. This has led to a new culture of smaller gangs and opportunistic criminals threatening the establishment.

Americans being radicalized by ISIS at ‘unprecedented’ rate

“The United States has ‘largely failed’ in its effort to keep Americans from joining the Islamic State extremist group in Iraq and Syria, and the government lacks a national strategy for combating the trend, a bipartisan congressional report stated.

Released on Monday, the report found that the federal government has generally failed to keep more than 250 Americans from leaving the country to join Islamic State (IS, also known as ISIS/ISIL) since 2011. Overall, nearly 30,000 people from around the world have traveled to the region in the same time frame.

‘Despite concerted efforts to stem the flow, we have largely failed to stop Americans from traveling overseas to join jihadists,’ the House of Representatives’ Homeland Security Committee concluded. ‘Of the hundreds of Americans who have sought to travel to the conflict zone in Syria and Iraq, authorities have only interdicted a fraction of them.’”

Report Highlights Why Public Sector Unions Are A Problem | The Daily Caller

The report, “How Government Unions Undermine Upward Mobility And What Can Be Done About It” by CEI journalism fellow Carrie Sheffield, found public sector unions have been able to force costly policies through effectively crippling essential government programs. Through collective bargaining, they then increase the costs of these programs, generally with little resistance from politicians, despite the burden on taxpayers.Worst of all, Sheffield finds, the negative effect on upward mobility is not simply contained within the union, but spills out to effect the people who use their services, often those most in need of a leg up.“Public sector unions may claim they stand up for the little guy, but generally they aren’t representing blue collar workers against a better-educated, white-collar management,” Sheffield said in a statement. “Government unions represent skilled, white-collar workers who enjoy big benefits and job security, courtesy of the taxpayer.”

I was part of the Cereal Killer cafe protest – here’s why | Will Harvey

While I sympathise with the workers who had to clean up on Sunday, and am deeply sorry that some children were intimidated by the protest, the petty vandalism that occurred pales in comparison to the brutality of the gentrification that is destroying the lives and demolishing the homes of some of London’s most vulnerable people.

Germany in a state of SIEGE after Angela Merkel opened floodgates to migrants

Locals in Giessen are appalled by the rape allegations. But many are also increasingly worried about the effect of the migrants — some 6,000 Syrians, Iraqis, Pakistanis, Kurds, Eritreans and others are housed in the camp, which was expanded last year — on their everyday lives. Some complain that the migrants have taken over the town, which is famous for its botanical gardens and dotted with pretty boutiques and flower shops. You cannot miss the new arrivals, wandering the streets in large groups.

Jeb Bush Says Hope, Not ‘Free Stuff,’ Will Draw Black Voters – The New York Times

Jeb Bush told a crowd in South Carolina on Thursday that Republicans could attract more African-Americans with a message of “hope and aspiration,” and not with promises of “free stuff” — a phrase that echoed comments made by Mitt Romney during and after his 2012 bid for president.
